How to Check and Use SSL on Your Website

1. Open the website with HTTPS. Visit the site using https:// and confirm the browser does not show a certificate or privacy warning. Tanco Tech Hosting plans include SSL for hosted websites.

2. Confirm the secure version is used consistently. Internal links and redirects should lead visitors to HTTPS rather than switching back to HTTP.

3. Check for mixed content. A valid certificate can still produce browser warnings if images, scripts, stylesheets or other resources are loaded over insecure HTTP. Update those resource URLs to HTTPS where necessary.

4. Check DNS and certificate timing. A newly connected or migrated domain may need time for DNS changes and certificate issuance to complete. If HTTPS still fails after the domain points to the correct hosting account, contact support with the domain name and the exact browser warning you see.

Check the website in your browser

Open the website using https://. A normal secure connection should load without a certificate warning. Browser interface details vary, so the security indicator may not always appear as the traditional padlock icon.

Check SSL in cPanel

  1. Open cPanel for the hosting service.
  2. Look for SSL/TLS or SSL status tools available on the server.
  3. Confirm that the domain points to the correct hosting account and that the certificate is active for the domain being used.

If HTTPS is not working

  • Confirm DNS is pointing to the correct hosting environment.
  • Allow time after a new DNS change before troubleshooting certificate issuance.
  • Check whether the warning applies to the main domain, www, or another hostname.
  • Look for mixed-content warnings if the page itself loads over HTTPS but still calls images or scripts over plain HTTP.

SSL is included

Free SSL is included with every current Tanco Tech Hosting plan. If the domain is correctly connected but SSL is not working, contact support with the affected domain and the exact browser warning.
